Tours for Two: East Anglia Escape

Based at the elegant Worlington Hall, Suffolk enjoy a relaxed and intimate four-day wildlife retreat exploring the very best of spring in East Anglia.

Designed for just two (or three) guests, this deluxe tour combines exceptional wildlife experiences with boutique accommodation, outstanding food and carefully curated local experiences.

Guests will experience the awakening of spring across the forests, fens and coastline of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire: from booming Bitterns and singing Nightingales to Bluebell woods and close encounters with seals.

This tour includes guided wildlife excursions, boat trips, a safari-style wildlife tour. You can upgrade your trip to include a whisky tasting experience.

Day One

Guests meet at midday at Worlington Hall before a relaxed local lunch. The afternoon begins with a peaceful boat trip on Wicken Fen looking out for Bittern and other breeding wetland birds. Later on, we’ll enjoy a gentle walk through bluebell woods at Dalham before returning for dinner at the hotel.

Day Two

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll travel into North Norfolk for a premium guided safari experience at Watatunga Wildlife Reserve, viewing rare deer and wildlife from a buggy tour. Following lunch on the coast, we will have a boat trip to Blakeney Point to experience its famous grey seal colony and coastal birdlife. To finish of the day, we’ll enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day Three

On day three, we will spend a day exploring WWT Welney via Weeting Heath for Stone Curlews. Our target species include summer migrants and insects that use the reserve and pool for breeding including Cetti’s Warblers, Avocet as well as Odonata and Orchids. We then have the opportunity to seek out Britain’s most iconic spring sounds: the song of the Nightingale.

Day Four

Our final day starts with an early morning visit to RSPB Lakenheath Fen to witness the evocative sound of booming Bitterns and the spectacle of Marsh Harriers over the reeds. After breakfast back at the hotel, guests may opt for a guided tour and tasting at The English Distillery before departing after lunch.

Meet Your Guide

Ajay Tegala

Ajay is a ranger, writer, presenter, podcaster and lifelong wetland wildlife enthusiast. Growing up in the East Anglian Fens, Ajay has worked as a warden on Blakeney point. He is also involved in restoration and monitoring projects for Eurasian Bitterns, Common Cranes, Marsh Harriers, and Hen Harriers.
