How to make your own Bridgerton Teacup Bird Feeder
There’s nothing that beats a cup of tea in a fancy teacup with a saucer. You can pretend to be part of the regency era and plan out your upcoming events of the Ton. Did you know you can make your garden part of that regency era fantasy too. Why not give an enchanting cup of tea to your garden birds as well! By using very simple techniques and equipment, you can turn the visits from your garden birds into an afternoon tea at Bridgerton House.
Whilst we can’t necessarily feed the birds real tea, we can feed them from a fancy teacup feeder! You can make your own by following these instructions.
First of all, why feed the birds?
Like Penelope Featherington, sitting at her window watching the Sparrows from Featherington House, you can also gaze longingly out the window at your garden birds. When you attract birds to your garden, you’re helping them to survive by providing easy access to food. By feeding the birds, more species of birds might show up, enhancing your time outside and improving your social status in the Ton. You can also improve your green space by planting the right plants for your wildlife.

What Teacup should I use?
You can use any teacup you like and it’s best to use one with a saucer. Perhaps you’ve got an old “out-of-season” teacup and saucer which sits at the back of your cabinet. Maybe now is the time to go and find one by using your local charity shop or thrift store. By using a 2nd hand shop, you’ll be helping charities and local businesses and also helping to reduce waste by repurposing an item. Usually these are much cheaper than buying a new teacup.
What you’ll need
- Teacup and Saucer
- Strong Glue, superglue works well
- String
- Birdfood of your choice

- Find a teacup and saucer – head to your local charity shop for this step.
- Glue teacup on its side in the middle of the saucer with the handle of the teacup facing upwards. You’ll need the handle upright to attach the string later. Leave the glue to dry overnight.
- Once the glue is dry, tie the string through the loop of the handle. Make a loop in the string for hanging.
- Hang this from a large branch on a tree tree or from a birdfeeder hanger in your garden.
What can you feed your birds from your Bridgerton teacup bird feeder?
Whilst we can’t feed them Gregory’s jellies or the Duke’s favourite Gooseberry Pudding, we can still feed them something refined. Try filling your Bridgerton teacup with Sunflower hearts which always go down a treat with most bird species. Because they are full of fat and oil, this is perfect to keep them warm, it’s the latest winter fashion! You can also feed them dried mealworms. This is certainly enough to make any respectable bird of the Ton simply consume everything on your feeder.
