Water (200ml)
Sugar (200g)
Growing Tips & Tricks
When harvesting leaves from your mint pant, remember to ‘pinch’ the end of the plant above 2 leaves. This will help the mint grow a new stem in place of the old one.
Method:
- Chop with a knife or crush your mint leaves with a rolling pin to release their flavour.
- Add water to the pan and put on a medium heat. Add the sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the chopped or rolled mint leaves.
- Once boiling, reduce the temperature and leave it to simmer for 20 minutes.
- Strain the mixture into a jug and let cool.
- Once cool, pop it into a jar or bottle and save it as a simple syrup to add to cocktails, mocktails and cordials.
And you’re done! This minty syrup goes really well in a Lemonade. Just add a dash of this syrup to freshen up a glass of pop!
Feeling fancy?
You could add a few leaves of basil to your lemonades, cocktails, mocktails and cordial as this herb pairs really well with mint.
